The Waste Land perfume evokes the haunting dissonance of T.S. Eliot’s fractured modernist masterpiece, weaving scent notes into a mournful ode to spiritual desolation and flickering hope. It opens with the scent of a dark river, echoing the murky flow of the Thames as it winds through memory and ruin. Dust settles like the dry whisper of crumbling cultures, while delicate lilac wafts from the "cruellest month" and hyacinth nods to the fleeting romance of the hyacinth girl—ghostly beauty remembered in a land barren of renewal. A sharp note of stale lager rises, conjuring pub air thick with hopeless chatter and lost time, before incense drifts in, faint as a single prayer in a chapel of bones. Together, these notes create a fragrance that captures the sorrow, mystery, and fragmented beauty of Eliot’s poetic wasteland.

ABOUT OUR PERFUMER

Ursula Bielski founded Ghost Ship Fragrance after a 33-year career in parapsychology, history and folklore. She is the founder of Chicago Hauntings, Inc. and the host of PBS’ “The Hauntings of Chicago” (WYCC). Ursula has been writing and lecturing about America's supernatural folklore and the paranormal for three decades and is recognized as a leading authority on the Chicago region’s ghostlore and cemetery history. She is the author of twelve popular and critically acclaimed books on the same subjects including the Chicago Haunts series and Graveyards of Chicago. Ursula began making perfumes for herself and her family and friends after years of bringing home leaves, flowers and rocks from the many haunted places she visited around the world during her work as a paranormal researcher.  Longing to capture and share the "haunting" experience of these unique sites, she began experimenting with the idea of recreating them in olfactory form to share with other legend trippers.
